The Mutinous Pact

The Mutinous Pact

January 21, 2011  |  Poetry

When the world’s a’slumber
I stir to wake
Seeking solace in
Your quiet state

When the world’s a’bustle
I flee from hallow
Seeking life alone
In realms so fallow

Relief alights
And I chain myself
Grace abounds
I deny Thyself

Why the rebellion
This polarizing act?
Why the pull
Toward this mutinous pact?

My flesh is ravenous
With cravings so filthy
Though I’d reject the deed
Have mercy upon me
